We aim to provide high-quality, energy-efficient, and affordable homes, while also protecting land and community spaces from speculative development.
Thrift Soham Community Land Trust (CLT) was founded to put local people at the heart of Soham’s growth.
We are a not-for-profit, community-led organisation that owns and manages land and assets for the lasting benefit of our town.
Formed as a registered Industrial and Provident Society (IPS) in 2014, the Trust operates independently but always in partnership with residents, local authorities, and community partners to ensure that development meets local needs — not external interests.
The purpose of Thrift Soham is simple yet powerful:
to create affordable, sustainable homes and community spaces that remain under community control for generations.
Every project we undertake is guided by values of fairness, transparency, sustainability, and collaboration.
We exist to:
Soham Town Council and East Cambridgeshire District Council
We are also being supported by CLT East – the charitable independent body set up to support CLTs in the East of England.
Everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of Soham.
Whether you’d like to volunteer, share ideas, or support one of our projects, your voice matters.
Together, we can ensure that Soham remains a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable place to call home.
Thrift CLT for Soham is an Industrial and Provident Society (IPS) formed for the benefit of the community of Soham.
