
Thrift CLT for Soham is an Industrial and Provident Society (IPS) formed for the benefit of the community of Soham.
The Thrift Community Land Trust for Soham was formed by a community minded group of residents in 2014. With the aim to support the local community to develop affordable housing and other assets to help sustain the spirit of the town now and into the future.
Thrift for Soham effectively act as a steward for any assets developed or acquired which means that any income from schemes will be reinvested directly back into the community ensuring that the homes and facilities are provided for the long term.
Homes are offered for an affordable rent or for shared ownership and will be prioritised for local people who need them.
The dictionary definition of ‘thrift’ is the careful use of money, especially by avoiding waste In Middle English (from Old Norse) it meant prosperity.
Today, we manage a site of modern built homes dedicated for the use of local people. The covell Corner development comprises 9 flats, and 4 houses.
