Thrift Community Land Trust, (Thrift CLT) has been formed to provide and manage housing and assistance to help house those in need. The Trust aims to build attractive, quality and energy efficient properties that achieve good standards of design and value for money. The homes will be available for either rent or part-purchase using shared ownership, equity sale or re-sale price covenant models, and the Trust is seeking to make sure that the rents and prices that it charges are affordable for local people on local wages. All tenancies will be offered as assured tenancies on a fixed term basis.
When allocating the new homes, Thrift CLT will make sure that it gives priority to individuals and families that have a strong local connection to Soham and cannot afford local market rents or prices. Although the housing allocations policy has yet to be finalised, it is expected that the following people are likely to be deemed to have a ‘strong local connection’:
- Someone who currently lives and / or works in Soham;
- Someone that has previously lived and / or worked in Soham and has established links with Soham by reason of birth and / or long-term immediate family connections;
- Someone that has an essential need through old age, illness or disability of themselves or of a parent, child, brother or sister to live near such relative or relatives;
Other issues such as existing circumstances, current and future household size will also need to be taken into account when allocating the new homes.
This form is intended to capture initial information about individuals and families that might be interested in occupying one of the new homes to help design and plan the new homes.
This form does NOT constitute a formal application for a CLT home.
All personal information will be kept strictly confidential by the Thrift CLT trustees who will be the principal point of contact with potential applicants. Identifying particulars from this Expression of Interest Form will be removed before any information is shared more widely.
